Interactive Section Prototype (Mastery Coding)

At Mastery Coding, I designed a content prototype guided by the Depth of Knowledge framework, utilitizing their newly launched interactive question types.

By layering storytelling with progressively challenging activities,
the prototype aimed to support deeper learner engagement beyond simple recall.

Timeline

June - August 2025

Challenge

Learners needed interactive activities that went beyond recall,

leading into deeper cognitive and emotional engagement.

Process

  • Applied the Depth of Knowledge framework to design activities that balanced straightforward recall with higher-order cognitive challenges.

  • Designed story-driven learning scenarios using text messages and voicemails to create authentic, relatable engagement and sustain learner attention.

  • Structured the content into microlessons aligned with eLearning best practices, optimizing for average learner retention rate and cognitive load.

  • Developed a low-fidelity prototype in Google Docs to map the interactive flow and progression, facilitating early stakeholder feedback on the learner journey.

  • Built a high-fidelity prototype in Figma and the company’s platform to simulate realistic user interactions, validating the UX design before development.

Outcome

  • A prototype that scaffolded learners from basic to advanced levels of thinking.

  • Demonstrated how interactive design supports deeper understanding and engagement.

  • Demonstrated how storytelling keeps learners invested.
